So this weekend we were so lucky to help celebrate Avery's 3rd Birthday! It was at Pump It Up and it was a great time. Unfortunately Vivian and Dan didn't get to attend. On Friday Vivian woke up and said her stomach hurt and didn't look to spunky. She wanted me to stay with her at school, which is so unlike her. She didn't have any other symptoms but I kept her home from school - better safe than sorry. She had a bad cough earlier in the week that had been keeping her up at night but I didn't think anything of it. On Saturday morning she woke up and again complained of her stomach hurting so I told Dan to take her up to our pediatrician's office while I got ready for the party. There is something to be said for mother's intuition. She has bacterial pneumonia. Not contagious but we kept her home from the party. She wasn't up for jumping in a bunch of bounce houses. Henry and I went to the party and had a great time. I spent most of the time chasing him in the bounce houses. There was a great turnout for the party and Avery got tons of great gifts! She had her MRI on Friday and results came back stable - so there was lots to celebrate.
A few quotes from the weekend.
Vivian on taking her Mucinex. I bought her some Mucinex to take probably last year. I couldn't get her to take it. Dan bought her some - orange flavor. She took it like a champ. So I said "well it must have been the flavor you liked because you wouldn't take it for me last year" Vivian said "well mom i didn't take it last year because it was complicated...I was 3." Well ok that makes sense. Then when I was reading her books for bed she pulled out her Where's Waldo book and said "Henry would be positively, absolutely mad if he knew I took this book out of his room." And there you have it folks.
Dan said after he was done reading his book to Henry Dan was laying there with his eyes closed and Henry said "Dad...dad" Dan opens his eyes and says "what" Henry then says "chickenbutt" and just starts giggling!
The kids have started wrestling quite often, Henry got new shoes just like dad's shoes, Scooby is loving Henry's tent up in the living room - enjoy the pictures!!

Henry's New Glasses!
Well we finally got Henry's new glasses! It was a bit of a challenge to get him to keep them on. I took him last night to get them fitted. He literally only put them on long enough for the women to adjust them and then I couldn't get him to wear them again. He was more concerned about having them in case. He didn't get much time to adjust to them and it was time for bed. When he did have them on he complained that they kept falling down. The right lens is pretty darn thick so I'm not surprised it keeps sliding down off his nose. Once we got home I ran around to 3 stores trying to find a strap to put behind his head to hold them in place. Most stores just have the longer straps for sunglasses that have slack that hangs down behind your head, which I knew he wouldn't like. The last eye glass place at the mall recommended I try a sports store.
Today the kids got up and both had school. I was able to get Henry to wear his glasses during breakfast and for a few minutes before school. I had to bribe him with fruit snacks...and of course Vivian was quick to tell me that it wasn't fair that Henry was getting fruit snacks in the morning. (we hear alot about how things aren't fair from her right now) I realize we are going to have to come up with a different rewards system so we aren't filling him full of candy. :-) He wore the glasses to school and showed his teachers but again was quick to take them off. After dropping off the kids I headed straight to the sports store. They told me I was looking for basketball straps for glasses. Got a pair for a bargain $2.99.
When I picked up Henry from school I told him I got him a cool new strap for his glasses. We got him and he asked about it right away. We put it on and then put his glasses on. He wore his glasses from 2:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. without any fuss!!! Nice score mom!! He even wore them to Target tonight. He seems to like them so far. I still don't know how well he's gonna do when we have to put the patch over his eye, but baby steps. He will wear his glasses for 2 weeks before we need to start incorporating the patch. Here are some pictures of him in his glasses today!

Happy New Year!
We got through Christmas and had a nice quiet time at home. You might all be interested to know that Vivian did not get a lump of coal from Santa. She got an American Girl doll among other things. Each gift she opened she screamed and said "this is what I always wanted!" Henry wasn't as enthusiastic...he tore through his presents and then kept asking for more. The weather was great here on Christmas Eve and Christmas day so the kids were able to play outside. Hardly felt like December with weather in the 50's. We went to church foe the chritmas service on the 23rd. The kids stayed with us instead of going to the child care area. Vivian really liked the lighting of the candles and singing Silent Night.
Dan had some vacation time to burn up so he was home with us for a few days after Xmas. Grandma Jackie and Chloe came down to visit. The kids got plenty of new toys from family and Sanata. And no duplicates even with having Henry's Bday 2 weeks before Xmas!
Dan and I went out for New Year's Eve. Our friends Sarah and Sean had people over. The kids stayed home and Sydney (our old babysitter back from college) watched the kids. We had a nice time and this was the second year in a row that we've stayed up until midnight on New Year's Eve! Woohooo!
Henry had his eye exam on Dec 28th and he does need glasses for his right eye that keeps turning inward. We went to a few places and picked out his frames. We should get them later this week or next week. He will wear them for 2 weeks then he has to wear a patch under his glasses that cover his left eye for 4 hours a day for 3 months. We go back to the doctor at the end of March.
This week we are getting back into our groove. Both kids had their gymnastics class today...yes both kids. I signed Henry up for classes and his first class was today. He was so excited and he did great! He listened really well to his teacher. He had so much fun and was all smiles!! He looked like such a big boy in class...still hard to believe my baby is 3! Both kids have school tomorrow and mom is ready for a much needed break. Have a good week! I will post pictures tomorrow we are having some technical difficulties.
