Happy 5th Anniversary

Well we've made it...half a decade!  What's scary is that the next 5 are going to go much faster than the first 5!  On Friday the 27th Dan surprised me by taking the day off, arranging a babsitter for the kids and a trip down to the Plaza. The neighbor watched the kids from 9 to 1.  So we grabbed a quick breakfast and headed to the Plaza for some light shopping and lunch.  We went to PF Changs, cause I was craving it and the only one in KC is on the Plaza and then we got some ice cream from ColdStone Creamery...Yummy!
It was the fastest 4 hours of the day!

Friday evening Dan had yet another surprise lined up with a carriage ride on the Plaza for us and the kiddos.  Vivian was a little leary at first and Henry just giggled once we started to move.  Once I figure out how to upload pictures on this thing I will post some.  Vivivan eventually warmed up and was waving to the people who were eating outside at various restaurants as we made our way around the Plaza.  It was a short trip and a quick $40.00 but we've been here 7 years and never done that so....check that one off the list!

On Saturday afternoon Grandma Jackie and Aunt Shirley came down to watch the kids so Dan and I could celebrate our milestone.  Dan had yet another surprise...reservations at Capital Grille and a suite at the Intercontinental.  I have never been to Capital Grille and always hear great things about it.  There are only 8 of them in the US so we thought that was pretty cool.  The food was unbelieveable! We both had steak and split a couple of side dishes.  So after a bottle of wine and dinner we left to meet Jeremy and Jenn, who were also on the Plaza celebrating their 4 year anniversary.  We went back to the hotel and sat on the bar patio and proceeded to drink ourselves silly.  Around midnight I decided I wasn't going to make it much longer so I headed to the room, Dan closed the tab and Jeremy and Jenn got a cab to their hotel.  I don't think I fell asleep until almost 3 a.m. after I paid a couple of trips to the porcelin god...in the meantime Dan was just sawing logs in the bed. ZZZzzzzzz

Vivian had soccer on Monday a.m. and we had parent's orientation on Monday evening at Vivian's new preschool.  Tuesday morning Vivian, Henry and I went to school so she could see her new classroom and meet her teacher.  It will be a tough transistion for her since she won't be at school with her best friend, Molly.  Janae, the neighbor girl, is at the same school as Vivian but not in the same class.  Vivian told me today when I asked her about school that she "didn't like her teacher" I asked her what she didn't like, but I didn't get an answer.

Dan informed me that before bed Vivian drank 3 or 4 drinks of pickle juice.  Dan said Aunt Jodi likes pickle juice and Vivian said "well maybe Aunt Jodi should come over and we can all have some."  So Aunt Jodi....sounds like a road trip???!!!

Week of August 23rd

We started this off with Vivian's soccer class and a quick trip to the gym so mom could workout!  Vivian still says she doesn't like soccer, but seems to have fun when she's there.  I did learn on Monday that her class is moving to Friday mornings instead of Mondays.  Not too thrilled about that but I want to make sure she stays with Coach Andrew and Coach Lauren.  Also, the only other classes on Tues and Thurs mornings and she will be starting preschool in 2 weeks on Tues and Thurs mornings so that won't work.  Bummer.  Monday afternoon the neighbor girl, Janae came over to play while Henry was asleep.  Wonderful for mom cause it keeps my non-napping 3 1/2 year old out of my hair for a couple of hours! So I actually had sometime to finish the trim in Vivian's room and the master bedroom.

Monday evening we went to DQ after dinner to celebrate Vivian pooping on the potty and actually wiping herself! Big deal for sure!  Once we ordered in the drive thru and pulled around to the window we realized that I forgot my debit card and Dan didn't have his wallet...we were all disappointed.  So we drove back home and ended up going to McDonald's and getting her a fruit smoothie.

The weateher has been great here this week and every afternoon and evening the neighborhood kids have been playing in the cul de sac for hours!  Finally we can enjoy being outside! Vivian chases after the older kids 6 /7 and is getting really good on her scooter.  A wonderful score by Grandma Jackie at a garage sale!

Wednesday morning Vivian went to art class for two hours and Henry and I went to the gym.  The neighbor girl, Janae is over again, which is why I actually have time to sit down and write something new on the blog. I know you all realize I am a detailed person, but I'm trying to keep the blogs short.  :-)

Thursday and Friday we don't have much going on except our 5 year wedding anniversary is Friday. I've already made Dan fully aware that I'm expecting some red carpet treatment for the good old number 5, so I'm anxious to see what he's got planned.  Please, don't act at all surprised by that....you know me too well. :-)

Happy Wednesday!

August 20th weekend

We had a busy weekend in KC! Dan and I had a date night on Friday, which have become far and few between. Sydney, our only and favorite babysitter, came over around 6 and had pizza with the kids.  Dan and I went downtown to a wonderfully authentic mexican restaurant on SW Boulevard, called El Peublito.  We had a few tasty margaritias and split fajitas.  Then we headed down to the River Market for 3rd Friday.  We met up with Tara and Joel, friends from Underwood, who live downtown.  We walked a few blocks to several small art galleries that were open for the evening and a silent auction.  It was a fun evening that was cut too short at 10:30 so we could get home and releave the babysitter.

On Saturday Dan and Vivian took a trip to Toys R Us to get a birthday gift.  Henry was pretty upset that he was left behind so I took him for a walk down the block.  After lunch Vivian went to Lana's 6th birthday party, a neighbor girl who lives in our cul de sac.  It was an outside water party so she went over in her swimwuit and lathered up in sunscreen.  Two hours later Henry and I went over to pick her up.

Sunday was a big day and was mostly spent getting ready for my Silpada party.  Cleaning the house and getting food ready for the party.  During the party Henry slept and Dan took Vivian to the pool.  She swan in the big pool without her floaties, cause Dad forgot one at home, and without a life vest.  Big steps!! She even showed Dad how she could go under water.  It's now Sunday evening, the weekends just go too fast! The kids are in bed and I am waiting for Entourage to start.
