Well we've made it...half a decade! What's scary is that the next 5 are going to go much faster than the first 5! On Friday the 27th Dan surprised me by taking the day off, arranging a babsitter for the kids and a trip down to the Plaza. The neighbor watched the kids from 9 to 1. So we grabbed a quick breakfast and headed to the Plaza for some light shopping and lunch. We went to PF Changs, cause I was craving it and the only one in KC is on the Plaza and then we got some ice cream from ColdStone Creamery...Yummy!
It was the fastest 4 hours of the day!
Friday evening Dan had yet another surprise lined up with a carriage ride on the Plaza for us and the kiddos. Vivian was a little leary at first and Henry just giggled once we started to move. Once I figure out how to upload pictures on this thing I will post some. Vivivan eventually warmed up and was waving to the people who were eating outside at various restaurants as we made our way around the Plaza. It was a short trip and a quick $40.00 but we've been here 7 years and never done that so....check that one off the list!
On Saturday afternoon Grandma Jackie and Aunt Shirley came down to watch the kids so Dan and I could celebrate our milestone. Dan had yet another surprise...reservations at Capital Grille and a suite at the Intercontinental. I have never been to Capital Grille and always hear great things about it. There are only 8 of them in the US so we thought that was pretty cool. The food was unbelieveable! We both had steak and split a couple of side dishes. So after a bottle of wine and dinner we left to meet Jeremy and Jenn, who were also on the Plaza celebrating their 4 year anniversary. We went back to the hotel and sat on the bar patio and proceeded to drink ourselves silly. Around midnight I decided I wasn't going to make it much longer so I headed to the room, Dan closed the tab and Jeremy and Jenn got a cab to their hotel. I don't think I fell asleep until almost 3 a.m. after I paid a couple of trips to the porcelin god...in the meantime Dan was just sawing logs in the bed. ZZZzzzzzz
Vivian had soccer on Monday a.m. and we had parent's orientation on Monday evening at Vivian's new preschool. Tuesday morning Vivian, Henry and I went to school so she could see her new classroom and meet her teacher. It will be a tough transistion for her since she won't be at school with her best friend, Molly. Janae, the neighbor girl, is at the same school as Vivian but not in the same class. Vivian told me today when I asked her about school that she "didn't like her teacher" I asked her what she didn't like, but I didn't get an answer.
Dan informed me that before bed Vivian drank 3 or 4 drinks of pickle juice. Dan said Aunt Jodi likes pickle juice and Vivian said "well maybe Aunt Jodi should come over and we can all have some." So Aunt Jodi....sounds like a road trip???!!!
I would love to come drink pickle juice with you Vivian.......I can also teach you how to make pickle ice cubs..........YUM! We will have to invite Chloe and Allie to our pickle party:)
