Dan took last Friday off work to spend some family time together. We drove up to St. Joe for the morning with the kids to check out some antique stores and then Dan took Vivian to the pool in the afternoon while Henry was napping. Friday evening I picked Jill up from the airport. She was in town for a girls weekend with some high school friends. I was able to hang out with them on Friday night and Saturday night for dinner. Saturday night I stayed down on the Plaza with them at the Intercontinental. It was fun...except for the fact that I had one too many drinks. Just can't drink those martinis like I used to! :-) I didn't get sick but didnt' fall asleep until almost 4 a.m. and spent most of it slumped over the toilet. Super fun. Jill came back to our house on Sunday to see the kids and our house for the first time.
This week is busy. I'm watching the neighbor kids 2 days this week for a few hours, Vivian has gymnastics, I am meeting a couple of college friends out for drinks on Wednesday night (no martinis!) and we might take the kids to a T-Bones game on Friday night. It's a minor league baseball team here in KC. Dan bought the kids walkie talkies and those are turing out to be alot of fun with the kids!
Have a couple of funny stores to share with you all. The first story is about Henry. I was flipping threw my gossip magazine - cause that's what most stay at home mom's do while they are watching soaps and eating bon-bons!! :-) Ha! Ha! There was a page that had some celebrities in their swimsuits and it was something about Best Beach Bikini or something. So keep that in mind when you read the following conversation between Henry and I.
Henry: "Cute" while pointing to the picture
Mom: "Oh you think she's cute?"
Henry: "yah. Hold Henry."
Mom: "Oh you want her to hold you?"
Henry: "yah. Nice"
Mom: "You think she's nice?"
Henry: "Yah."
The funny thing about this is...well he's 2 1/2 and is already pointing out very attractive girls and calling them cute. The other is that when there are older girls at the pool, 8 and 9 years old. Henry always wants them to hold him in the water and twirl him around or bounce up and down or whatever. So I always have to ask them if they will hold him. Which they never mind doing and most of them have seen us up there more than once so they do know him. But he just thinks it's the greatest thing. Vivian does get upset cause usually she's asked the girl to play with her and then they end up holding Henry and it doesn't sit so well with Vivian.
The other funny story is about Vivian and happened today. It was pouring down rain when we got home from the gym this morning so before we went to the grocery store we were letting the rain let up. Vivian always says she's cold when we are walking around the grocery store, so I suggested they each grab a sweatshirt to put on. I knew if she got wet while walking into the store she would be even colder in her sundress. Here is how this conversation went:
Mom: "Vivian why don't you get a sweatshirt to wear to the store."
Vivian: "I want to wear that red one with the butterfly."
Mom: "Honey, I think that one is too small and I don't even know where it is." So we went up to her room to look.
Mom: " Vivian it's not in your closet. Let me go look in the guest bedroom (where we keep clothes she's outgrown).
Vivian is in her room still helping look for it as I go look in the other room
Mom: "Viv I dont' know if it's in here either. I can't find it."
Vivian: "But mom that is the one I want to wear"
Mom: "I know Viv, we can keep looking but if we can't find it you will have to wear a different one. Oh wait...here it is...Found It!"
Vivian comes running out of her room and says "Oh good, cause I was gonna be so pissed if you couldn't find it!" She wasn't mad she just said it so matter of factly and like it was a word she uses everyday. So as I struggled to keep a straight face I explained to her that isn't a word that little girls use. Pretty sure she got that one from me. Super.
The pictures below are of Henry helping Dan hang some pictures on the wall and the other is Dan in his super man snuggie. A funny present from Grandma Carol last christmas.
