On Wednesday, Vivian brought home one of her first school projects. She's brought home paintings and such but this was different than that. They have been discussing dinosaurs most of the week so the project centered around that. They took a shoebox and glued rocks, sand, trees and play dinosaurs into to recreate what it looked like when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Each kid was asked what was going on in the project they created. Then their quote was written on the back of the box. In case you can't read the picture I posted... here it is....."T-Rex killed the meat eater. The baby is dead and here comes the big, bad dinosaur to kill the other dinosaurs." So does this seem disturbing to anyone else? Dan and I weren't quite sure how respond to the her story other than "Oh....wow...that's really good."
Vivian has a birthday party on Saturday so the other night we went to Target to get a gift. Dan and Henry decided they would go along with us. Before we left, I asked Vivian if she wanted to grab her money (that she's been earning by doing things around the house) to bring with her. If she saw something she wanted she could use her money to buy it. She was thrilled with that idea! Of course Henry wanted to bring his wallet with him too. He got a zip up coin purse thing in his stocking from Santa. At the store Vivian chose a long wig that she could wear to play dress up...looks like Rapunzel's hair. Two of the neighbor girls have similar wigs they wear. We all know how badly Vivian wants long hair so it shouldn't be a surprise! Henry picked out a truck that he wanted to get. Vivian went through the checkout line in front of us and gave the lady her money (she was short a dollar so we pitched in) and waited for her change. Afterward she was so excited and said to Dan "pretty soon I will have enough money to buy everything" Oh such wonderful optimism!! If it were only that easy! As the women was ringing up our other items Henry was standing in front of the cart so I couldn't really see him, but I could see he was doing something. He put his truck upon the belt with the other stuff we were getting. Once I could see him I could see he was unzipping his coin purse (wallet) and he had a play $5 bill in his hand. So I said "Oh you brought your money too" He said "yeah I got some money"
I told him to hand it to the women behind the counter, he did and she took it from him and said Thank You. He was feeling pretty good about himself after that. It was so cute and so funny! Seems like the 2nd one grows up faster than the 1st one. Enjoy the pictures!
